blog post: New Years

Well, Christmas is all over with, and in a few more days we'll be ringing in the new yr!. Maybe if we get invited to go to some ones house for dinner or somt'm , I'll take my glasses out of the box and use them.. I bought a couple of glasses before Christmas:
I went out for a walk today, it was bright and sunny when I left and when I came back, it was kind of cloudy, I thought for sure it was going to snow in the next few hrs. but I was wrong, oh well, so I was wrong.......(first time for everything I suppose) I had to get a few things from the store..
My Nephew got me an 'Echo Dot' for Christmas, I love it!. Got it set up to turn the light on and off, I talk to it, sometimes I get a straight answer from it and sometimes I get a long answer, but I think it's awesome!..

blog post: that time of year pt. 2

The other day I went to the mall and while I was there I got some Christmas gifts, nothing very big, just some things one for my bro. and one for myself!.. I bought a Bluetooth speaker there the day before Thanksgiving, and I had to take it back, it was on sale, from 39.99 down to 9.99, couldn't pass it up so soon as I seen it, had to snatch it up, just glad it was still on sale when I went back!.. (oh that was for myself too) Then I went to eat some lunch at the food court.. That just leaves something for my Nephew and a friend of ours.. I think I'll go back there once more, I seen these cute cuddly polar bears, may get them for our friend..

blog post: That time of year

Well, Halloween was a few weeks ago, and now it's a few more days till Thanksgiving and then a little over a month will be Christmas!.. I do not have many  people to shop for.. I went once on 'Black Fri.' really don't plan on doing  that again!. The store opened at 7am and when we got there, there were already like 70 people standing in line.. It was a small store, (Ace Hardware) they had this dvd/cd player on sale for 20-25 dollars, (can't really remember) back in the early 2000's.. The sale was only on for a few hours, from 7-10 or 7-11.. I stayed over at friends house one night, they would leave at like 12:00 just so  they'd get there and start shopping at 1am and of-course when they get back, I'd wake out of a deep sleep.. These last few days here have been nice, about 2 days ago, I believe it was in the upper 40's then warmed to about 67 which was nice, comfortable.. Although, it's warmed up now since then, which is pretty much the way here, one day it's a nice 40 or 50 then it warms right back up to 80!!.. It doesn't stay long just 1 or 2 days then 'boom' warming up!!..

The House with the Clock in it's Walls

Yesterday I went to see 'The House with the Clock in it's Walls'... First off, is an hr. and a half, a lot of special effects and puppeteering.. It is a good movie for the Family to enjoy during this time of year!.. Like I said, " an hr. and a half" not sure if it was rated PG or PG-13... No nudity or sexual situations..
Never been to this theater before, (The Premiere Oaks 10) I did however go by it  enough times in the car, my neighbor dropped me off, about 100' from the front door, (guess he thought I needed exercise) anyway, as soon as I got in there, it was pretty empty, but then again it was a week day and 1:30 everybody was still in school or at work, which is why I like it, I don't like big crowds!. So here I am, at the Theater, there was about 3 or 4 Families, not many people in front of me.. First thing I do is get my ticket and a lg. popcorn and a lg. coke, 21 dollars!!.. (yep, 21 dollars) Got to my seat, sat, got comfy, just counted 8 maybe 9 people in the whole room!.. Started watching 20 mins. or so of commercials and coming attractions (which  were kinda funny) then the movie came on, 15 mins. later than announced, which is nice then you don't really worry about coming in to late and possibly missing some of it!.. It starts out on a day like any other, but quickly turns, and then there are some highs and some lows, but in the middle it allll comes together!.
Well, this is my review of this movie, I hope you found it helpful, if not, then I'll try to do worse!.

Blog post: Almost that time of year..

Well, it's almost that time of year!. The air is starting to smell a little more Autumner!. The freshly cut grass smells a little more fresher, the first little orange leaf on the tree, all these things, I'm sure are happening somewhere (CAUSE THEY SURE AREN'T HAPPENING HERE)!!.. Don't get me wrong, I like my Halloweens and Thanksgivings and Christmases, and it does get cool, but not cold !. Halloween should be; cool, leaves falling, looking for that perfect pumpkin in a field with a light sweater or jacket on, pumpkin on a bale of hay with some little colorful guards!.. Thanksgiving; cool / cold, leaves pretty much on the ground by now, and pumpkins on a bale of hay with colorful little guards!. And Christmas; lots of colored lights, lite frost or even a lite snow on  the ground, a snow-man, and a decorated Christmas Tree!. Last year, I think we had less than 10 days (could've been a week) of days that it dipped below 50degrees, and maybe 1 or 2 days that the temp. was at or below 40.. About 95% of our winter was 60 or above.. The Fall down here consists of maybe a handful of yellow or maybe some yellow and orange mix.. The majority of the leaves here are green, it's not cold enough for them to change, they can't even get out of their green color!!..

blog post, The 4th

We had a good 4th of July.. Nothing big, my Nephew and I went outside and watched some fireworks, the neighbors had a little bbq, Fam. members over, then after it got dark out they went down in front  of the house to watch!. They have a black Doberman so naturally you couldn't see it, except for the collar around his neck, had bright green lights on it, so just imagine him running back 'n' forth looked like a U.F.O. or something, zipping around like 2 feet off the ground (LOL)!.. We had a bigger display than last year!.  Leading up to the day, there'd be fireworks here 'n' there but nothing really big, then on the 4th people would really 'let loose'!.
About a week or so before, I chased a 'pigmy' rattle snake out of our porch!. Took about 45 min. but I got'em out.. Don't know if it was a male or female, didn't ask it!.. I opened the porch door, and managed to get it out.. So that makes 2.. The first was a 'black snack', both of'em made my heart skip a beat (err a few beats)!.. I just hope I'm done with these things, after I leave they can come back!..

blog post: Saturday June 9, 2018

As I sit here in my Rocker Recliner looking out my window, I see it is a clear day.. (and you know what they say about clear days dontcha!?. You can see forever) I was thinkin maybe I should type alittle in my 'blog' because I think the last time I 'blogged' something was like 2 months ago (ish)!. The past few days, we had a Screech Owl living just under the overhang of our roof, in that space between the house and the attic, actually I don't know how long it's been there, I think it and its babies must've flew out maybe in the last 2 or 3 days!.. I have been doing a lot of walking lately, I call it my training regime!. I am getting ready to go out west.. I know where I wanna go!.. I have friends who said they'd help me, I have Cousins and they're both married, I'm really looking forward to this!. Ok, so I just took a couple hour intermission, and right now I look out my  window and it is cloudy, so we could get a little rain or we could get a little snow (I'm rooting for snow) being this I Florida we'll probably get rain..

Blog Post Cousin Vic

Had a great time having our Cousin Vic here!. We talk about old times, my Mom kept old newspaper clippings and old pictures of my Dad's Dad,and we looked at them!. That first night he was here, the hrs. just flew on by, before I knew it, it was already 12:00!. The next day, we started our day around 10, my Bro. and his Son chose to stay behind and fire up  the smoker, we had ribs that night.. My Cousin and I went to a little outside restaurant and bait shop called 'Camp Holly'!.. They have outside entertainment and a live band (on the weekends) they also have a tent or canopy set-up where you can get food, sandwiches (also on the weekends).. But it's open 7 days a wk.you can bring your own food, aslong as you get a soda from the bar.it was a nice little get-a-way, there must've been about 80-100 people there..I was happy he got to see an alligator float down the river, and not to mention the 2 little ones they have in the tank in  the gift shop!. Then after about an hr. or so, we headed back to the house.. We talked out on the patio for a while till it was time to eat.. I noticed rumbling while we were sitting there, then I realized a rocket was going up!. So I jump up, walked out on the drive-way (I really would've liked for him to have seen a rocket go up from the drive-way) and said,"CRAP!.. We missed a launch, well at least you got to see the smoke trail"!.. All in all we had a good visit!..

blog post Just some more ramblings

I do not ever remember it being this cool so late in the season.. Here it is March 18 and just a few days ago, we were down in the 40's for night time low's.. It's been slowly warming up.. Honestly, I kinda like the cool weather, long pants sleeping with a blanket.. Alas, this is Florida and since it's like being near the Tropics, it must stay warm.. This morning I watched the weather, and in  the coming days they predict a slight cool down, they call for upper 60's and lower 70's for the later part of the week, then it'll probably warm right back up again over the weekend... I started this blog post a few days ago, and here it is March 21, breezy, yesterday we had winds of 37 mph with gusts up to 53 mph and a high of 90, today they predict a high of 70 and another day of breezy conditions.. Easter this year is April 1, (April fools day) in case you didn't know!.. Trump, has now got 3, that's 3 women suing him, (he got his tiny hands full !..) The 'Pornstar' the 'Ex-Playboy Model' and the 'Reality Show Contestant' ....I guess it's a good thing for him he's a billionaire!... (and who knows how many others are out there) Ya ya!.. We have quite the President, don't we folks?.. This is who we voted to run the Country...Maybe we can all vote unanimously too have him impeached.. (his time is up)

blog post A walk down memory lane..

I think it was 1978 when I first went to see my Aunt Marion and Uncle Leo!. I was 9, we had a van my Dad drove us all up there to Kansas from Florida, my Mom, and my dog!.. That's the first time I saw snow too !!. My Aunt and Uncle lived on a farm.. They had chickens, roosters, cows, red irish setter, (your basic farm animals) I think it was one evening, or it could have been the following morning, that they let me go get eggs for breakfast, I just had a hard time moving the chickens to get the eggs, I think it was my Mom or Aunt or someone came over and showed me!!..One night someone came into my Cousins room and woke me up around 2 (I was stayin in my Cousin Jody's room) I think it was my Dad.. He brought me in the kitchen and showed me my first snowfall, first thing I did when I woke up later that morning was go out and  build me a snowman!!..(quick intermission while I deal with some tears) Over the late 70's early 80's , we all went up, I think mostly so my Dad could find the best route!. First, we went up through Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, I believe that was the scariest route,(literally roads on sides of mountains) you look out the window and you looking down the side of the mountain!!. (some were even 2 lane highways) We finally settled on a very flat, safe route, traveling through  Tallahassee, along the Gulf Coast, then heading north.. Once I think I went up on the plane myself!. Normally when we went up, it would take us 3 days, start out early around 8 the first day, stop around 3:30 or 4, do the same thing the next day then on the third day, we'd get in about 5 maybe even 7!. Then, in the middle 80's , they moved about a mile away(yes a mile) fine by me... This new house was aliitle more cozier, easier too sleep at night, didn't have too worry bout those peacocks!!. Oh, didn't I mention they  had peacocks at the other house, there were 2 , one was on that chimney allllll night!!..(just yelling away) Anyway, this new house was about the same  size, their Son Roger got the other house, we didn't live in Fl. anymore we moved to Missouri, so instead of 3 days it would be more like 4 hrs!!. Ever since day one, I've just liked it better out there than here, whether it was Ks. Mo or even Okla.. Yes, my Bro. even lived in Oklahoma, and I stayed with him there!.

Blog post: Football and Baseball Greats

Just recently I was scrolling on Facebook, and I seen this post on 'Pete Rose', which made me want to 'google' and download...
