Blog Post: Another post on Girard

This morning I got up at 8:45 to a beautiful morning, yesterday was nice too but last night was pretty rough.. Around 2 the wind started blowing with a force, not much in the way of thunder (every once 'n' a while) but the lightning lit up the whole sky every few seconds!.. Right now it's 11 in the am, and I'm getting ready to get a bite to eat then walk to the Court House to have my id change..
2:00 I went up to the Court House but they thought just an id renewal but I nee...ded a change, just a little mix-up, so I have to go to the city of Pittsburg about 25 mi. away. Transportation is not a prob. so on the way back I stopped at the market and got some snacks then I called the local café and ordered myself a chicken fried steak dinner!. (just hope it lasts till supper...lol) Chicken fried steak, gravy, corn, fries, salad and roll for 8 something!.
HEY GOOd news, it is 3:39 and my supper is still in the fridge!. I think I forgot to mention that this is an old town.. A lot of the buildings and some houses are late 1800's and early 1900's.. Not positive on it all yet but the Post Office is like 1878 or somtin I believe the Court House is like 1922 and I haven't been to the Cemetery I'm sure I'll fine some 1820's-1830's (might even meet somebody)!.

Blog Post: Girard

Earlier I walked up to the local market and got some groceries I needed.. Thats probably the furthest I have to walk for anything, (probably a mile or mile and a half) everything else is like a few blocks..Just heard the train go by.. It's almost 4 now and it's still pretty clear..Ya ever noticed, libraries have gottin alitte noicier, not much, just a little!.. after I get this posted, I gotta walk over to the Court House and get my id changed.. Yesterday I got my Mailing Address change.. I've been here I think 5 days now and everyday I wake-up, splash water on my face then go walk,I always see something new!. Obviously spend a few hrs. at the library, keep in-touch with all  my FB friends check e-mail check news then depending what time it is, I may walk over and get a bite or maybe just get something to take back home (lololol) for supper!. (hoping it last that long)

Blog Post: Welcome to Girard Kansas

2nd night in the new house... (apt.) Morning started out pretty good, light drizzle, just enough to make a person wanna stop mowing, (unfortunately for her it never started up again).. She was showing the house next to me which is a 2 story..I have neighbors on the other side, and then there's a guy that lives in the front half of the duplex.. Girard is a nice lil town.. The train, (which I haven't seen yet, only heard) comes through a few times a night as well as in the day, (but I'm not complainin) also a big trucking town, not to mention quite abit of farmers too, so you see people walking around in overalls, cowboy hats!. Except for the occasional trains going by, and trucks here 'n' there, Girard is a pretty quiot town, Girard is also the County Seat.. I haven't had to go anywhere (I don't drive) everything is basically right down the road or just a few blocks: restaurants/stores/post office..

Blog post: Bryson City

Well I got on a plane from Orlando Fla. and I met my Bro. in Ashville North Carolina.. Going through Orl. Airport I was kinda nervous, being when I flew last was prolly when I was 16-ish, and I'm 50 now.. I finally boarded, had a good flight, then after an hr. and a half later, touched down in Ashville.. It was smaller than Orl. I was able to find the baggage claim easier, then Rob picked me up!. After we loaded up the car, we got a bite to eat it was eve. time.. (it was a late flight like 4-5:30ish) We had a good meal, then it was back on the road, it was only a 40-45min. drive but after we stopped I guess it was like alittle over an hr. or maybe 2 after we got to our room at the Ridgetop Motel and Campground.. It was nice on top of a mountain, which gave me a good view in the morning and not too mention the rest of the day too !.. The next day, Rob took me down to the stores and gift shops, got me a few shirts, we had some lunch out, then he took me out to were our friend lives, he's been a friend of the Family for yrs. and yrs.We stayed there, talked some then it was back to the room, then Rob had to drive back to Fla. and take care of some stuff, he's do back today, roughly 2 and a half wks. I'm not complaining, our friend Pat took me around, I had to take another room for a few days, by the Tuckaseegee River, which I saw  a lot of birds flying around there, a lot of geese float on the currents and I seen a few kayakers floating down the river, haven't seen any bears though!.. (I'm look'n though) Now I'm back at the original place.. Had a lot of time to think being alone, and a big issue for me is getting around... Down there in Melbourne Fla. I call a taxi and they pick you up.......up here, nope!!.. Even down there if you had to go like 2 mi. they'd still come and get you.. I can access my uber app here on my laptop and get an uber down there and they'd pick you up, up here however, you could be looking for an uber for up to an hr. I guess before one becomes available.. (well atleast I get good cell phone reception up here)

blog post: Coming up on Eviction Day

Well, it's been a while since my last post!. Let's see, what happened, "OH, my Bro. passed away"yeah, he went in Dec. peacefully in his sleep..I still remember the last thing I said to him, "night".. We just  finished watching 'SNL' and I went to bed, when I woke up the next morning, he fell asleep in the chair and just never woke up.. OK!. So, when I'm 48, my Mom passess away, (at night, peacefully in her sleep,in a rest home) next yr.when I'm 49, My Bro. Don passess away (peacefully in hs sleep, as he falls asleep in the chair)) and now at 50, our Landlady wants to evict us, what else can I expect?.
  The other day I took a walk up to the mall.. It was a nice day when I left, but by the time I got back I was soaked from head to toe!. (hello rainy season) I have likes and dis-likes about living in West Melbourne, I dislike the traffic, prolly 5days out of the week there's either police, ambulance or fire truck with sirens blarring and prolly 80% of the time they're going up the street infront of the house!.. The other day, I go to cross the road (at the cross walk) and I almost get hit, just one of those drivers who are in such a hurry to get nowhere!.. I like it because everything is close!. (except the woods, another dislike) Fam. Doc. store, places to eat, B. King, Mcdonalds, Subway the mall.. I think though the one I'm gonna miss the most, is my Eye Doc. He has a good Attitude/Bed Side Manner!. Maybe I could still stay!. (still wanna go out west though)

blog post: New Years

Well, Christmas is all over with, and in a few more days we'll be ringing in the new yr!. Maybe if we get invited to go to some ones house for dinner or somt'm , I'll take my glasses out of the box and use them.. I bought a couple of glasses before Christmas:

I went out for a walk today, it was bright and sunny when I left and when I came back, it was kind of cloudy, I thought for sure it was going to snow in the next few hrs. but I was wrong, oh well, so I was wrong.......(first time for everything I suppose) I had to get a few things from the store..
  My Nephew got me an 'Echo Dot' for Christmas, I love it!. Got it set up to turn the light on and off, I talk to it, sometimes I get a straight answer from it and sometimes I get a long answer, but I think it's awesome!..

blog post: that time of year pt. 2

The other day I went to the mall and while I was there I got some Christmas gifts, nothing very big, just some things one for my bro. and one for myself!.. I bought a Bluetooth speaker there the day before Thanksgiving, and I had to take it back, it was on sale, from 39.99 down to 9.99, couldn't pass it up so soon as I seen it, had to snatch it up, just glad it was still on sale when I went back!.. (oh that was for myself too) Then I went to eat some lunch at the food court.. That just leaves something for my Nephew and a friend of ours.. I think I'll go back there once more, I seen these cute cuddly polar bears, may get them for our friend..
